He Delights in Us

The Lord delights in us. The Creator of the Universe takes great pleasure…in us.

GoddelightstomeetthefaithI liked you to take a moment to think of something you delight in. Something that bring you great joy. Go ahead and take a minute, I’ll wait.

Now that you’ve had time to think. What is it that you find delight in? Could it be your child(ren) or the warmth of the sun touching your face? Maybe hearing the voice of a loved one who calls unexpectedly. How about a evening with your spouse?

I don’t know about you, but for me, all of those things have brought great pleasure. But I must be honest, it’s hard to wrap my mind around the thought that God would delight in me. I’ve done a lot of stupid things. Things, that I know have caused great heartache to my Abba Father.

From the very beginning, scripture tells us this is true. He DELIGHTS in us!

Do you believe it? You should. Because He created you.

Psalm 139:13

You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body
and knit me together in my mother’s womb

I know what your thinking, something like this? “There are times when I struggle with who I am'’. Well, there are times when I too struggle with the way God made me. From being shorter then what I would like, to the times I speak in boldness afraid I’ve over stepped that line of offending. Yet, God has showed me that He can use people like me. And I know He can use you too!

2 Samuel 22:20 He brought me out into a spacious place; he rescued me because he delighted in me.

Zephaniah 3:17 The LORD your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing."

Knowing God rejoices over us causes us to run to Him in times of trouble. We then are willing to trust Him to lead us down the path that He has chosen for us.

When we embrace that God delight in us…it changes everything!

I loved the verses you chose to use here. I like thinking he delights in me much the way I delight in my grandson:)

Hmmm...so many thought revoking statements here. I, too, struggle with the idea that God would delight in me on a good day let alone a bad day with all the mistakes and re-dos I need.

Though the majority of your post is about delight and God delighting in us. This statement stuck out to me...relating but yet different enough to speak to me something my mind knows but my heart fails to believe: "We then are willing to trust Him to lead us down the path that He has chosen for us." He's chosen this path for me? He will correct the mess of the path I've made. He's creating a new path for me right now. But, it's so hard for me to see. Just as it's hard for me to see Him delighting in me.

Very poignant, Tammy.
Sweet blessings,
Paula

I loved this Tammy! Never really thought of Him DELIGHTING in me. Loving me, yes, but delighting in me. Wow. Awesome.

Precious,

I was blessed in reading this. I often think of and speak of to Peter on this very topic. It's very hard to wrap our minds around the magnitude of GOD's love let alone the fact that He delights in us BUT indeed He does.

The Word tells us to delight ourselves in the Lord. That too is a treasure.

His love is amazing, His thoughts of us and His care for us is truly amazing in spite of our messes and we all have them that's for sure!

I wish 'we' could love another as Christians in spite of our messes. We don't seem to do that as easily.

I love you.

What a wonderfully encouraging post Tammy. Sometimes it is very hard to believe that He delights in me.

I have Zephaniah 3:17 on a 3x5 card here by my computer.

Much love to you!!

I delight in God's mountains. It's so much easier for me to find him there ... something about the "ascent" speaks a kingdom language all its own.

Mountains, for me, = presence with God.

God is also delighted with my presence. Really, its all about the relationship, is it not?

Thanks for this and thanks for being with me on the road of peace. What a pleasure it is to enjoy Jesus together!

Tammy,

I don't know that I can ever truly comprehend it. Recently, the Lord placed His hand on my heart and helped me through a very difficult heart problem. The doctors can't explain it and call it an anomoly but I knew it was the Lord because He kept talking me through it! For two weeks after, all I could do was cry. It still amazes me, that kind of love!

Blessings to you!

Hi Tammy,
This year I've done a lot of reading the love of God. Fascinating that He loves me as a person, an individual and not just groups or populations of people. Great post.

Interesting post. Interesting question. I would have to see that for me the moments of greatest delight is when God chooses to use contemplative prayer for union. Wow!
